Sesame Street :I
Ok, so you might be thinking, this is a videogame/music/comic/etc. blog/site/thing why is this about Sesame Street? Because I am bored and we ALL have watched Sesame Street. The SS phenomenon is HUGE. The merchandising is what really pushes it and allows it to really succeed. The funny thing is that it might be losing steam. It makes sense, the first episode did air on November 10, 1969 and they have managed to produce over 4,000 episodes. That is a huge, huge undertaking.
THIS HUGE or big…
They have won 8 Grammy Awards and 118 Emmy Awards. That is amazing! However, there is a dark secret to this series. From season 1 to season 29 of this show, each season would produce 130 episodes. That is a ton of episodes. However, from season 30-33, only around 50 episodes were produced per season. This then again fell and since season 34, starting April, 2003, less than 50 episodes have been produced per season. This is despite the allowance of corporate sponsorship starting in 1998 with Discovery Zone. What is going on here!?
Are they paying the writers solid gold? Are they trying to make original episodes!? Their target audience is 3-4 year olds so I doubt that they need to com up with original stuff every season. Why not just repeat a few things from season 22? Meh.

To tie it all together with soemthing current, Mitt Romney, has stated that he wants the show to begin to be privately-funded. Right now, it is both private- and publicly-funded. Many people freaked out but the truth is that the show has had ads in it since 1998 with Discovery Zone as I previously mentioned but no one seems to realize. Oh, and if you are wondering why that is a photo of Donald Trump, I googled “Romney Evil” and that was the first picture.
So yeah, Sesame Street makes less episodes, uses private- and publicly-funds, and is going private-only soon! Thanks for reading.

Posts about Sesame Street now? Clearly, we’re slipping too…
Maybe they can produce higher quality episodes? They probably have more people operating equipment. And though I am an ardent capitalist a fully privately funded Sesame Street would feel weird.
I say yes more sesame street. It basically has shaped/warped the minds of anyone born since 1969. Is it in decline? Possibly. People blame the appearance of Elmo and death of Jim Henson. Good article.
Elmo killed everything.
