Rumors fueling a much more powerful Xbox 360 predecessor
New rumors have been circulating the net around a recently leaked document with some very surprising information about the new Xbox 720 and the next version of the kinect. With 2012 being half way over and a lack luster E3, Microsoft is looking to kill next years competition and it looks like we might get the console we’ve been asking for.
Microsoft has been making major moves towards making their console the only thing you need in your home for entertainment purposes and the 720 is making moves in the right direction. The document, now pulled from being viewable online, spoke about an “always on console state,” full 3D support, 1080 p output, blue ray and 6x the performance power of the Xbox 360 that we have now. There was even a mention of a 299$ selling price. In a gaming era where we are accustomed to consoles being around 400$, that is a price I don’t mind paying.
The next Kinect is really where the fun comes in. For those who are unaware, Kinect was microsofts attempt to create a more creative gaming experienece by adding a motion censor camera into the mix. While I wasn’t a fan at the idea, I tried it and (with certain games) it works fairly well. The next iteration of the Kinect will have higher accuracy, an upgraded RGB camera, and support for up to 4 players.
The document was a good read but didn’t read have anything that we couldn’t guess, that was until we got to the Augmented reality Kinect glasses. While they most like won’t see a release in 2013, the document revealed that these new glasses will be 3G and 4G wifi enabled and will display images from more than just what you’d see on the console screen. As of now, these are just rumors but Microsoft did go after that document quite fast. Makes you wonder whats to come from the games of tomorrow?
