Metal Gear venturing into new territory in their 25th year
The Metal Gear Solid franchise has reached it’s glorious 25th year anniversary and what better way to celebrate that feat than by dropping some major announcements. While along with showing some of new Metal Gear Rising footage, and a Metal Gear mobile game, a new console title was announced as well. Metal Gear Ground Zeroes was shown in a 20 minute demo on the new Fox engine which will of course the title was built on. What was very interesting is the announcement of a more open-world game, which might be hard to balance with a series that’s utilizes every aspect of the story line very, very well. On top of the new game, it was announced that Columbia Pictures along with Avi Arad (X Men, Iron Man, The Amazing Spider man, The Incredible Hulk, etc..) will be producing a Metal Gear Solid movie. While they’re not a lot of details on which game the movie will be focused on or what version of Solid Snake we might end up with, Avi Arad’s impressive history of producing very good comic book movies leaves me feeling more than confident that we might end up with a good film on our hands.
IGN has a video showing a small clip of the new, very smooth, Fox engine as well as some Metal Gear goodies.
