Get ready for more Marvel and Disney madness
Comic Con has brought us some good news about the next string of Marvel/Disney studio movies and like always, they’ll have all of us nerds and fan boys and girls, dying to see what they do to as the continue on some of the best super hero movies to come out in the last few years and even giving us a new one all together.
There have been rumors circulating for awhile now that an Ant-man movie was in the works and it really got to the point where it seemed unlikely until the rumors started up again and much to my comic nerd delight, it turns out we are finally getting one after all. They even went as far as showing off some un-finished footage from the film, showing the costume which is being described as more of a mech-suit with a helmet and the signature antennae. Unfortunately, there isn’t a release date at this time for the Edgar Wright directed movie but due to the fact that this seems like its very early in production, I’m sure we ill get one later in the year.
Captain America was one of the best films in 2011, not only due to its mostly positive reviews, but it out grossing Thor, Green Lantern and X Men: First Class during its midnight premier and opening number 1 at the box office. Initially, doing such an iconic character seemed like a big risk, after all, look at what happened to Hal Jordan. Well, Chris Evans risk payed off and it after the highly successful super hero smorgasbord, The Avengers, Marvel has announced the official sequel for Captain America, Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Without spoiling the plot of “Winter Soldier,” fan will be very pleased to see a familiar face making a return as a one armed assassin in what will hopefully be one another amazing comic book movie. The release date for Captain America: The Winter Soldier is April 4th, 2014.
While Captain American beat Thor’s ticket sales opening night but he couldn’t stop the God from Asgard dominating domestically and receiving equally positive reviews. Starring an amazing cast which featured Chris Hemsworth, Stellan Skarsgard, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston and plenty of others, Thor was the summer block buster that eveyone had their eyes set on and with Tom Hiddleston’s massive popularity based on fan favorite, Loki, I’m sure Thor will have no trouble doing just as well in Thor: The Dark World. With the amazing set designs and the world created in the first Thor, I can’t wait to see what they bring to the table this time around. Thor: The Dark World will be destroying box offices next November 8th, 2013.
There isn’t any comic book movie franchise that’s been talked about over the last few years more than the Iron Man series. Already an amazing, complex and troubled comic book hero, Robert Downey Jr added his natural bravado and created one of the most hilarious and all around awesome characters to watch on the big screen and after a few character changes and being handed over to a new director, Shane Black (Jon Faverau is servicing as an executive producer), there’s no doubt that the 3rd installment in the series will be just as spectacular. Footage showed Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, which will be interesting and we’ll find out what role the Iron Patriot will play in the movie as well. While not shown on the promotional photo, the release date as of now is May 3rd, 2013.
