Disney purchases Lucasfilm ~ $4.05B.
“It’s now time for me to pass ‘Star Wars’ on to a new generation of filmmakers” -George Lucas
Could this mean certain doom to the Star Wars franchise? I personally have never been a huge Star Wars fan but I understand its appeal and respect its fan base. Lucas has made a few controversial at best, decisions in the recent past of his career as a producer and director.
Are we really surprised that he would cash out when offered four billion dollars? It’s a decision I would hate to make, and would be on the same level of giving up a child. The large sum of money he will receive through the stock and cash transaction should soften the hurt a little bit.
“A new Star Wars movie, Episode VII, will debut in 2015. More Star Wars feature films are planned after that.” -Sourced (Business Insider)
It is interesting to me because I wonder if he actually thinks it will be good for the company, films, and employees or if he is just getting his money and hitting the road. I’m sure he will be involved with the new film unless he doesn’t want to be.
There is still no confirmation on IMDB of the film being discussed. More information to follow.

If Disney/Pixar decides to do the Thrawn Trilogy, it’ll all be worth it.
(nerdiest possible answer ahoy)
That’s exactly what I thought when I heard about this.
Eh, the Thrawn Trilogy doesn’t strike me as particularly movie-worthy. A lot of political machinations and not a ton of action. Also, would we have different actors playing Luke and Co.? That would freak me out a little.
I think Truce at Bakura could be cool. But I think it would be ideal if they went far into the future, into areas that the EU hasn’t explored, so they could carve out their own niche.
If they do a reboot, I’ll kill them all.
