Arlin Plays Psychonauts- Meat Circus
Here we dive right in past the point of no return for this game. Events are going quickly, as one might expect, and what at first seems to be the final boss fight leads into what turns out to be both the final and most horrifying level in the entire game. If you thought venturing into the mind of certifiably insane people was bad before, here we go into the intertwining of another nutter with that of Raz. Raz, it turns out, has a lot more issues than he’s been letting on, though I give him credit- he manages to keep it all in check remarkably well. However, it also involves one of the most frustrating things most players ever have to deal with: an escort mission. These missions sometimes may make sense in the context of the game’s story, but they easily frustrate players, as suddenly the player has to take care of not only themselves but a (usually) helpless companion, with dire consequences should the player fail. Even here it’s extremely frustrating, as one must navigate an unfamiliar level with a time limit, even if it is relatively generous. In my case, I also had to take time to look for the remaining collectibles, compounding the problem. And whenever the player is punished for failure with lost progress, it’s bound to cause a lot of frustration. Fortunately, this is the only time we have to deal with this!
