Arlin Plays Psychonauts- Gloria’s Theater Part 2
It’s time, at last, to dive back into the mind of Gloria. I managed to get the stage up and running last time, so this time the show must go on! Going through them, I can see the puzzles involving the various scripts being rather difficult if players didn’t pick up on (mostly) subtle context clues. Admittedly, when you screw up, the actors in the play give you a hint, but nevertheless, puzzles in general are a tricky business, in a video game or a tabletop game. One thing I can definitely appreciate is that each of the plays still ties in with Gloria’s life, giving you further backstory while still enhancing gameplay. The actual stage and actors are intriguing, as well. I noticed that all the parts of the set retain their shape exactly, merely changing in what is painted on them between the manic and depressed lighting styles, and the actors themselves also have subtle changes in their models. In the manic lighting, they have longer faces, but when the lighting flips their faces become wider horizontally, and gain razor sharp teeth. It’s a relatively small change, but it does the job quite nicely.
