Arlin Plays Psychonauts- Brain Tumbler Re-Revisited
Today we get to see a well crafted villain. In my opinion, what makes a villain compelling is as much a factor of the personality and backstory of that character as it is the quality of the foreshadowing. This holds especially true with the Chessmaster type of villain, but even here it’s an important thing to note. If you look back, you can see all kinds of little hints as to the identity of this villain, long before today’s reveal. That goes a long way to making said character a believable and interesting antagonist. I’m all for a good plot twist, but if there are no signs you look at later and go “Oh, so I should have figured it out,” it seems more like a lazy writer cop-out than it does a properly crafted story. Fortunately, today is not an example of that.
